We ‘The Friends of Ballyclog’ had a very successful ‘European Heritage Open Day’ (EHOD) weekend, meeting lots of people who acknowledged the beauty of St Patrick’s Church (1868) and the enormous potential of ‘Ballyclog’ as a heritage site with its links to St Patrick’s Bell (National Museum of Ireland), the ‘Ballyclog Bell’ (Ulster Museum), the ‘Flight of the Earls’ and Plantation of Ulster (Castlestewart Mausoleum) and the poetry of Charles Wolfe (Curate in 1817 when ‘The Burial of Sir John Moore’ was published).

We’re looking forward to stronger links to historical societies and raising our profile on the Heritage Trail, as we also build relationships with people who want to support us and help preserve this amazing ‘place of the bell’. We’re looking forward to EHOD weekend 2020!
